Antique bronze sculpture of 3 running athletes TO THE GOAL

Au but or Les Coureurs, impressive bronze sculpture by the famous French artist Alfred Boucher (1850-1934) The tree nude runners are just at the goal and intensely struggling, a most difficult theme executed with the greatest skill. This bronze is a reduction of the bronze group placed in the Luxembourg gardens in Paris. First shown in the Salon of 1886. Received a fist class medal. Paul Leroi said “This bronze has a an extreme vigor and admirable intensity of life, the greatest movement and a rarae suppleness of modeling, in short one of the masterpieces which honors French art” 21 KG
