The goddess of Fortune sits on a fishing net on the bow of a classical ship with a Triton figurehead blowing a trumpet.In her right hand she holds the Caduceus or staff of Mercury or Hermes, a symbol of peace and prosperity.<br />
At her feet are the packaged goods that bring the profits of the shipping business and a Cornucopia or horn of plenty streaming over with the monetary proceeds. An anchor and coil of rope complete the decoration.<br />

										<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Antique bronze sculpture David after the combat signed by Antonin Mercié, With Founders signature Barbedienne Paris and the Collas seal.<span class="Apple-converted-space"> <br />
</span>Bronze with brown patina.<br />
France 1880. </p>
<p>A life-size nude version of this model, was exhibited at the Salon of 1872 where it not only won a first class medal but also brought Mercié the distinction of being the only artist to receive the Cross of the Legion of Honor while still a student at the French Academy in Rome. This bronze is now in the Musée d&#8217; Orsay.</p>
