<p data-start="670" data-end="817">This <strong data-start="675" data-end="722">Georges H. Laurent Art Deco parrot bookends</strong> set is a refined example of French decorative sculpture from the Art Deco period of the 1920s.<br />
The composition depicts two stylised parrots perched elegantly on rectangular Portor marble bases. The design reflects the geometric elegance and stylised natural forms characteristic of the <strong data-start="1010" data-end="1031">Art Deco movement</strong> around 1925.<br />
The pieces are signed <strong data-start="1068" data-end="1086">“G.H. Laurent”</strong></p>
<p data-start="1046" data-end="1217">The French sculptor <strong data-start="1125" data-end="1147">Georges H. Laurent</strong>, is known for his animal sculptures en decorative bookends produced during the Art Deco period.<br />
The bookends are executed in <strong data-start="1248" data-end="1270">silvered art metal</strong> and mounted on <strong data-start="1286" data-end="1309">Portor marble bases</strong>, demonstrating the refined craftsmanship typical of French decorative arts of the early twentieth century.<br />
Objects such as these were originally used as <strong data-start="1464" data-end="1511">decorative bookends for libraries and desks</strong>. <br />
Today they are highly sought after by collectors of <strong data-start="1565" data-end="1614">Art Deco decorative arts and animal sculpture</strong>.</p>
