This exceptional Art Deco bronze sculpture represents Penthesilia, Queen of the Amazons, created by renowned French sculptor Marcel André Bouraine (1886–1948).
Cast by the prestigious Susse Frères foundry in Paris using the traditional cire perdue (lost-wax) technique, this sculpture dates to circa 1925, the golden age of Art Deco. The dynamic nude figure with bow embodies movement, strength, and refined modernist elegance.
The bronze features a deep, dark green patina, enhancing the sculptural contrasts and emphasizing Bouraine’s mastery of form. This work is widely documented in authoritative Art Deco literature, confirming its importance and authenticity.
