Art Deco bronze bust of Achilles

This refined Art Deco bronze bust of the young Achilles was created in 1920 by the renowned French sculptor Constant Roux (1865–1929). The sculpture beautifully combines classical inspiration with the stylized elegance characteristic of early Art Deco sculpture.

Cast in patinated bronze, the bust displays exceptional sculptural quality and detail. It rests on an elegant green marble base, enhancing its refined and timeless appearance. The sculpture is signed Constant Roux, bears the foundry mark “Les Neveux de Lehmann”, is numbered, and marked “Bronze”, confirming its authenticity and quality.

This model is documented in important reference works, including Constant Roux by Laurent Noet (Mare & Martin, p. 45) and Art Deco and Other Figures by Brian Catley (Antique Collectors’ Club, p. 286), making it a highly desirable collector’s piece.
